Real Wedding // Classic Fall Wedding at Barr Mansion

Real Wedding // Classic Fall Wedding at Barr Mansion // Florals, Event Design + Paper Goods by The Nouveau Romantics // Austin Wedding Planning and Event Design Studio

You may remember this Barr Mansion fall wedding inspiration board we shared this summer, and today we’re finally sharing the final photos! Sean and Stephanie’s wedding was a New-York-meets-Texas affair, complete with classic, elegant details like beautiful calligraphy and romantic candlelight, as well as a few rustic touches like the mossy escort card display. It was fun for us to mix those kind of qualities at Barr Mansion, but stay true to their New York-style roots with a soft palette of whites, greens, blush pinks, with hints of soft periwinkle blue.

The Nichols did a fantastic job with the photos, and we were lucky to be featured on Style Me Pretty with the rest of a spot-on vendor group! And keep your eyes open next spring for another feature in The Knot! Thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding day Sean and Stephanie!

Inspired By: Illusion Necklines

Illusion necklines were a big trend at New York Bridal Week this past October, and we sure are big fans, too! They show a little skin, while still being modest. Some even have a little vintage flair to them. What’s not to love? We rounded up some of our favorite wedding dresses AND bridesmaid dresses that feature some truly beautiful illusion necklines.

TGIF, y’all! Here is a quick little round-up of some goodies we’ve been in to lately.

How amazing is this arrangement by Emily Thompson for Veranda Magazine? I can’t get over how dramatic and powerful it is. The snowy scene is so peaceful and a perfect setting for such a stunning arrangement. Emily Thompson in Veranda Magazine // Links We Love // The Nouveau Romantics // Austin Wedding Planning and Event Design Studio

Besotted recently shared an interview with one of our favorite ladies, Bailey Amon of Antiquaria. It’s interesting to hear her background and how she got in to calligraphy. She also mentions wanting to teach calligraphy workshops, starting next year…we’re definitely crossing our fingers for that to happen! In the meantime, you can teach yourself some calligraphy basics with these tutorials from Antiquaria, and don’t forget that they‘re offering these calligraphy starter kits through their website. Now you don’t have any excuses not to teach yourself something new! Antiquaria Calligraphy Starter Kit // The Nouveau Romantics // Austin Wedding Planning and Event Design Studio

Of course, we have to share something food related. I’m excited to try this Sweet Potato Quinoa & Cotija salad from Love & Lemons sometime soon! It’s healthy and easy to throw together after work…what’s not to love?

We’re honored to have made the list with this beauty! This bout is one of our most requested by brides, and we’re happy to oblige. It’s classic, and a little more interesting than your standard rose. Bonus: even guys love it!

We’ve got another busy week ahead, so we’re going to savor this weekend. Hope yours is great too!

Marcy Blum and Toronto’s The Business of Weddings

Liz here, holing away in a tiny condo up north in Toronto, staring at the 25F temperature projections and secretly relishing the opportunity to see a preview of winter. Texas living is grand, but sometimes I really miss the true seasons of my native homeland. [Mitts! Toques! Winter Jackets! So novel.]

I digress. I came north to attend The Business of Weddings here in Toronto [and visit friends and family] this past Sunday at the Arcadian Court, a symposium that dealt with weddings and the luxury market here in Canada — while additionally addressing a number of topics including branding, the millennial market force, communication and presentation. It didn’t hurt that the writers of two of my all-time favourite blogs were going to presenting — Sean Low of The Business of Being Creative and Liene Stevens of Think Splendid. If anyone has met me in person, they’ve probably heard me yammer on about these two! They are always [always!] putting together blog posts that are thought-provoking, and continually challenge me to consider how we do everything at The Nouveau Romantics. Read More
