In the April issue of InSyle Magazine on newsstands right now, The Nouveau Romantics are featured alongside some talented creatives as part of their “Dream Team” — and we’re answering some big wedding planning questions on trends, priorities, and what we’d give as hostess gifts along the way!
It was really wonderful to work behind the scenes with the editorial team on brainstorming answers to their questions, and coming up with the imagery and ideas that are inspiring us the most right now. While the final edit is a pared down version of our responses, I figured it would be fun to post my very lengthy, slightly rambling, stream-of-consciousness unedited version ….
We are excited to share Amanda and Bradley’s Texas wedding featured on 100 Layer Cake today! The bride and groom came to us looking for something elegant and refined yet relaxed and Ma Maison was the perfect place for us to create it. With creme, blush, and lavender florals, we added a pop of sapphire in the grooms boutonniere and deep pink in the floral wreath sported by their adorable pup.
We used table linens to bring in richer shades of blue and alternating ribbons of rose quartz and deep lavender at each place setting to evoke a bit of sophisticated drama as guests entered the reception, all shot by the incredible Belathée. Check out more photos below!
We’re thankful that our weddings bring us to so many amazing places, but we are always happy to be home in ATX, so when Brides of Austin asked us to design their launch party, we gave them a big, resounding YES! Collaborating is what we love to do and a dream team of Austin vendors makes our work all the more fun.

We’re so excited to see Christy and Phil’s outdoor Austin baby shower on 100 Layer Cakelet today! Christy is a vital part of our floral team and we were so excited when her stepmother asked us to help create an extra special baby shower for her. We painted the affair in sky blues and sunny yellows to echo the happiness that filled the room. Christy and Phil had papel picado at their wedding, so it was so much fun to bring them back for their baby shower. As they entered the shower, guests were greeted by mylar balloons. Refreshments included a table filled with “cravings” and a mimosa bar. We were so lucky to have the very talented Heather Curiel there to capture it all. Thank you to the amazing team of vendors who helped us make her shower such a dream.
While we were out on holidays in December, we got wind that we’ve been featured by Martha Stewart Weddings magazine as top Wedding Planner in the country for 2014, amongst a laundry list of some of the biggest industry heavyweights! There are some names that I have respected and admired from afar, so to be considered among the same two-page spread is pretty incredible. [There was a solo dance party and high kicks in my office to celebrate.]
It made me reflect back on the community and camaraderie that I’ve found within the industry, and how much that has truly enriched my life over the last four years. My goal for 2015 is to really dig into expanding this idea of community — in the wedding industry, in the creative business world, and beyond.
Cheers to the rest of the incredible talent listed! And be sure to check out the full 20th Anniversary edition of the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine — it’s a good one!
